The cross near Nida (Curonian Spit, Lithuania) reminds in the sculptor Rimas Dugintis, who self-immolated in 1990 in the dunes.

By self-immolating in these dunes (1990) he wanted to express his protest against the new border, which separated the lithuanian part of the curonian spit from the russian part.
