A wheellock puffer, for enlisted men of the Saxon Prince-Elector's Palace Life Guards, dated 1587. Two-stage barrel, octagonal becoming round and constricted in the middle with a smooth bore in 16 mm calibre. Punch-marked decorative frieze, with the date "1587" and mark displaying the Saxon Electorate coat of arms stamped on topof the barrel. The lock has a spring-loaded pan cover and a safety lever. Finely burled blackened fruitwood stock with finely engraved bone inlays. Ball pommel with a nailed silver plate displaying a finely engraved head. Original ramrod,
