COLONIES—COLONY TKADE In each of the six mining districts there is alegislative body termed a Mining Board. Theseboards are empowered to make bye-laws applicableto the district generally, with respect to miningaffairs and occupation under business of these boards consists of ten members,four of whom retire from each board annually byrotation. Each district has its separate Court of of the judges of the Supreme Court is appointedto act as chief judge of the Court. The quantity of gold produced at the mines inNew South Wales cannot be accurately ascer-tained ; but the preceding table shows the quantityand estimated value of gold exported from NewSouth Wales and Victoria since the commence-ment of discoveries in May and October, 1851.
