This slab lies upon an At Norton Brizein Oxfordshire, within a chapel to the north of the chancel, liesanother slab, which, though resembling it in many respects, is amuch finer work of monumental art than the memorial of SirWilliam de Staunton. This is the monument of Sir John Dau-bygne, or DAlbini, parts of whose effigy are sculptured upon itwithin sunken panels towards the upper and lower extremities ofthe stone. The head of the knight is here represented as armedwith a bascinet of steel, from which is suspended a camail to coverthe shoulders; the arms are in plate-armour, and the-bare handslie clasped upon the breast, resting on the emblazoned jupon ; thefeet, which rest upon the figure of a lion, now much mutilated, areprotected by sollerets ; the spurs are long, and have rouelles; andthe legs, armed in plate, or more probably in studded cu
