David Charles Baulcombe (born 1952), British geneticist and plant scientist. Baulcombe's work includes the discovery of small interfering RNA and its role in gene silencing. He has worked at the Plant Breeding Institute (John Innes Centre) and the Sainsbury Laboratory. In 2007, he was appointed Regius Professor of Botany at the University of Cambridge. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2001, he was knighted in 2009. Photographed at the 'Epigenetics, Reprogramming and Development' conference hosted by the French Academy of Sciences at the Institut de France, Paris, France, from 14-15 September 2010.
