River research. Hydrologists on a river, using an ACDP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) device to examine river currents. This work is part of the AMMA (African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analysis) project to study the African monsoon season. The monsoon is a seasonal period of heavy rainfall following prevailing winds. In western Africa, it arrives in June. Photographed in Beterou, Benin.
