On December 14, 1972, Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt successfully lifted off from the lunar surface in the ascent stage of the Lunar Module. This is an image of the Command Module during CSM orbit 52, photographed from the Lunar Module at rendezvous. The lunar crater Tauruntius A is seen in the background.
