Prestatyn and Dyserth railway line, Meliden, Prestatyn, Denbighshire, North Wales. Looking south east at bridge over road leading up to Graig Fawr with arched underpass on north side of road. The Prestatyn - Dyserth Way, mile recreational footpath uses the route of a disused railway. It is part of 60 mile North Wales Coast Path which follows the coast and lower mountain slopes between Prestatyn and Bangor. Originally the Dyserth branch of the Chester and Holyhead Railway opened in 1869 to carry mineral traffic: lead ore from mines and limestone from quarries around Dyserth and Meliden. Briefly used for passengers 1905 -1930, but not as convenient as bus services. Closed as a railway in 1973.
