Anal segment tri-lobed, with dorsalanal lobe inflated and having distinctinflated pad; devoid of setae. Anallobes and pads ovate, with severalsmall setae forming a fringe alonginner lateral margin of each , strong, introrse setae occur oneach side of narrow, closed septulawhich extends about half the lengthof the segment (similar to Syndesuscornutus). Mandibles and the stridulatingorgans are shown in Figures 7-8. Discussion In the initial stages of this studydifficulties were encountered in dis-tinguishing difierences between larvaeof Scarabaeidae because the existingkey describing the Lucanidae larvaeof AustraHa lacks description of speci-fic key structures.
