1st Infantry Division Gold Star Families and Army Brig. Gen. Niave Knell, the 1st Infantry Division Deputy Commanding General-Support, visit the newly erected Kansas Gold Star Family memorial monument at the Kansas State Capitol Visitors Center, Sept. 23, 2022. A Gold Star Family is any family member of a person who has lost their life while serving in the United States Armed Forces, and the monument honors over 6,500 Kansan fallen service members.
