Old house in Old Perithia, an abandoned village. Though the village is described as abandoned some of the locals take advantage of the tourist season by making a few of the old houses into Tavernas. This particular view is of one such house. This historic village is situated just below Mount Pantokrator. It is the oldest permanently inhabited settlement in Corfu, dating back to the 14th century. There are only 130 houses, built entirely by hand, some of which have now fallen into ruins. Old Perithia is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty and is a protected heritage site.
