Polymorphic eruption of pregnancy. Abdomen of a pregnant woman with polymorphic eruption of pregnancy (PEP). Also known as pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) and toxemic rash of pregnancy. This condition is a chronic itchy rash with wheals and papules that affects some women during pregnancy. Treatment is with topical moisturisers and, in more severe cases, corticosteroids. Most PUPPP cases resolve within a week of delivery, but a few do continue postnatally.
