230518-N-PA221-1151 PHILIPPINE SEA (May 18, 2023) Navy Air Traffic Controller 3rd Class Carlos Palta, from Houston, mans a CO2 bottle while fighting a simulated fire during a general quarters drill aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). Nimitz is in 7th Fleet conducting routine operations. 7th Fleet is the Navy's largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
