HMS Southampton. There were six ships bearing this name (1) Built 1693, broken up 1771. (2) Built 1757, wrecked 1812. (3) Built 1820, sold 1912. (4) launched 1912, sold 1926. (5) launched 1936, sunk 1941. (6) launched 1979, decommissioned 2009. Because this photograph is dated 1925, it would appear to be No. 4?, though some internet sites show this ship as HMS Southampton No. 5 which was apparently bombed and sunk in the early part of WWII
