A Black-veined White (Aporia crataegi) is resting on a Field Scabious (Knautia arvensis). The relatively large butterfly was found in the evening resting on the wildflower. A relatively shallow depth of field throughs the background completely out of focus, creating a nice smooth green background. The butterfly is known for it`s population fluctuations. Today the species is extinct in Britain. Photographed in Denmark.
