The result was most pleasing and, althougha great traveller, I am satisfied it is one of the largest treesI have ever seen either in Canada or any other portion ofthe North American continent. Few, indeed, are the treeswhose girth measures anywhere in the neighborhood oftwenty or twenty-five feet, but rarely if ever has onebeen found to go thirty feet, as the monarch of Picton COL. T. BOG.
