. E. Fred Washburn's amateur cultivator's guide to the flower & kitchen garden for 1880. Nursery stock Massachusetts Catalogs; Flowers Seeds Catalogs; Kitchen gardens Catalogs; Vegetables Seeds Catalogs; Fruit Seeds Catalogs. THE AMATEUR CULTIVATOR'S GUIDE TO THE FLOWER-GARDEK ANNUALS. To aid in making the selection of seeds, the botanical name is given, and the popular name when thei'e is such, together with the natural order to which it belongs, as indicative of the general character of the flower. These, with the full remarks, will enable the amateur to make a judicious selection. Wishing to make this book as simple as possible, we have divided the flower-seeds into classes, viz.: Annuals, Biennials, Perennials, Greenhouse, Summer Climbers, Everlast- ings, and Ornamental Grasses. In giving orders for seeds, it is preferable to mention the numbers; but, as the numbers are often changed, it is absolutely necessary to give the date of the ABRONIA UMBELLATA. ABRONIA. Nat. Ord., Nyctaginiacece. A charming plant, with Verbena-like heads of sweet-scented flowers. Very eflfective in beds, rockwork,or in baskets suspended in a conservatory; growing freely in any light, rich soil, and flowering from August to October. wo. PRICE. J Umbellata, rosy-lilac, half-hardy annual; from California, i ft. high $ Please note that these images are extracted from scanned page images that may have been digitally enhanced for readability - coloration and appearance of these illustrations may not perfectly resemble the original Washburn & Co; Henry G.
