The meats most frequently supplied at the school are beef, bacon,weiners, fish and chicken. In recent years the school developed afine herd of Hereford beef cattle, and this has added greatly to thesupply of beef. VI. Cleanliness It is recognized that cleanliness is a big factor in good health. Theschool officials emphasize this in all situations as often as possible. 10 THE UPLIFT. The Doctor Administering Medical Care The dairy barn is cleansed thoroughly each day, and only Grade Amilk is given to the boys. An effort is made to have the cottagesclean at all times. Good housekeeping is stressed constantly amongthe cottage matrons and officers. The cottages and other buildingsare being constantly repaired and reconditioned. The boys go swimming in the schools indoor swimming pool twiceeach week during the summer. Each cottage is equipped with show-er baths, and these are used every night before the boys retire. Theboys are now being required to use night clothing, either pajamas or THE UPLIFT 11 shorts, at all times. The bed linen is being changed from top tobottom once each week. The boys change their overalls and otherclothing twice each week. A high standard toward which all officers and matrons strive isto make the cottages neat, clean, attractive and as home-like as pos-sible. The goal is to promote high regard for happy group living,
