Flowering Caraway-Scented Thyme, Thymus herba barona, with a bee on.

Caraway Thyme is as valuable for its looks as it is for its aroma and taste. It is low-growing and can handle light foot traffic, which releases its spicy scent. Use it as a groundcover; in the early summer it will produce starry, purplish-white flowers. The trailing and wiry habit of Caraway Thyme makes it an interesting addition to mixed pots. With its longer leaves and stems, it is more elegant than common thyme. Honeybees love the purplish-white flowers of this Thyme plant. Though Caraway Thyme is less well-known as a culinary herb, the combination of traditional thyme scent with a hint of caraway is perfect for use in breads and savory dishes. Plant in well-drained but relatively poor soil. Once plants are established they will require little care. Thyme plants are susceptible to fungal diseases, avoid over watering. Wetting their leaves, while watering, also reduces their fragrance. ()
