The main frame-work of the building is built of ironand steel, and is so arranged as to make the very best constructionOf the outer walls, the lower two and one-half stories are of Bay A TOUR OF THE CITY. 89 of Fundy red granite, and the remainder are of the finest qualityof buff-colored pressed brick and terra cotta. All the floors areconstructed of strong tile arches, supported by steel beams. Thepartitions are of hollow tile and crystalline glass. The floors inthe office are of hard wood. The halls are lined with white Italian. The Unity Buildm marble, and have mosaic and ornamental tile floors. The woodtrimmings in the offices are of antique oak. The stairway is ofsteel, with marble treads. The Ashland Block is situated on the northeast corner ofClark and Randolph streets. Solidly built, elegant in interior appointments, andreplete with all the modern conveniences, it is a feature in urbanarchitecture. The building is located at 154-158 Washingtonstreet.
