The inscription reads: THE GLORIOUS DEAD 1914 - 1918 THIS SHRINE WITH THE CLOCK AND CHIMES DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN OF CLYDEBANK WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WARS 1939 - 1945 NON OMNIS MORIAR After the Second World War, the names of those who died in that war were also added to the memorial.
