Llanfair PG octagonal toll house of 1822-3, one of several built on Anglesey along Thomas Telford's Holyhead to London road (A5).

Octagonal toll house of 1822-3, one of the 5 built on Anglesey along Thomas Telford's Holyhead to London road (A5). They, plus a sixth subsidiary gate at Star, continued in use until 1 November 1895: the A5 across Anglesey was the last turnpike road in use in Britain. The corrugated hut beside the toll house has been in use since 1921 for meetings of the Women's Institute: their first meeting in Britain (the idea came from Canada) was held close by (in the summerhouse at Graig) on 25 September 1915.
