September is considered as 'National Peace Consciousness Month' in the Philippines and in line with this celebration, the Philippine Marines organized 'Football for Peace' and 'Kite for Peace' festival in Luuk, Sulu. The two day event is filled with football and kite competitions which aims to instill the value of honesty, camaraderie and teamwork towards a peaceful community. Sulu is the home of the terrorist and kidnap for ransom group Abu Sayyaff and one of the mission of these festivals is to prevent the young generations in joining the ASG.
