Monsieur Auguste Vestris Jr. in the favorite ballet "Les Amans Surpris." Auguste Vestris (1760-1842), illegitimate son of dancers Gaetan Vestris and Marie Allard, made his stage debut in 1772. He made his London debut in the serious ballet Les Amans Surpris, dancing with Giovanna Baccelli, and astonished England "more by his agility than his grace."
