Chamberlain, born in Salem,1S19, educated in the public to Lynn, 1839. CommissionedMajor vSecond Artillery Fourth Brigade,Second Division, August 13, the breaking out of the Civil War heraised a Company and was made its CaptainApril 19, 1861. Promoted Major C. States Volunteers, Department ofthe Gulf, April 25, 1864; mustered out,Octolier 16, 1865 ; returned to in a number of civic societies,among which he reckoned as one of thedearest, the G-A-R .
