World Cup Festival of the people and cultures. Cathedral in Hamburg
Festival of the peoples and cultures on the occasion of the World Cup on the 10 June in Hamburg, Germany. Immediately on the 1st game day of the World Cup 2006 in Hamburg, at the Saturday, 10 June, start the evangelic and the catholic Church together with the team of the Christian churches in Hamburg the central church festival for all football fans, that would like to experience this day with its families, to have fun and joy together with other people from all around the world. Communities of Hamburg welcome guests out of distant countries. All around the cathedral church St. Marien invite over 50 communities and arrangements out of the churches and out of the quarter St. Georg to a festival, with which the football in the midpoint stands, but also the joke that do not come joining in and the consciousness to shortly. Before the St. Marien-cathedral, a large linen, on which the games of the day will transmit, stands: clock: England - Paraguay, clock: Trinidad and Tobago - Sweden, clock: Argentina - ivory Coast - live out of the AOL-arenas in Hamburg. Before the program begins at the noon with an ecumenical festival religious service under free sky, forms under the participation of Bishop Maria Jepsen and Archbishop Werner Thissen as well as with many international guests. Between the games, there is a colourful program on the NDR-stage that introduces many church activities all around the football. On the school yard of the cathedral training St. Marien play music groups and student volume until late into the night, gives it international folklore. In the afternoon a street-Football-tournament starts on the sport field of the Lohmühlen secondary school under the participation of ca. 40 teams.
