Flesh : Color yellowish ; tex-ture tender, firm, becoming to-ward spring moderately juicy;riavor ])leasant, Salome {(iihar/id).Value : Promising for export. Season : Xoveml)er to ^lay. Quality : Dessert or cookingfair to good. Adai)tation : Succeeds remarkably well in the County of Simcoe. Mr. C. L. Ste[)hens, ofOrillia, who has fruited it there, counts it one of his hardiest varieties. Mr. John Craig,formerly horticulturist at the Central Exjierimental Farm, Ottawa, reported that three treeshad been i)lant(Ml there in 1888, and had not been injured by the winter; he believed it pos-sessed of sui)erior hardiness. At our St. Lawrence station this apple has not been a success. Mr. Jones says in his reportfor 1902, Salome has fruited with me the second time, and although the tree is a hardy,vigorous grower, the fruit has proved very unsatisfactory, being of small size, less than twoinches in diameter, ])Oorly colored and liable to drop before maturity.* At our P>ay of Quinte station the fruit is reported as being medium to l
