DE - BAVARIA: St Coloman near Schwangau

A wonderful isolated church on the outskirts of Schwangau is the Wallfahrtskirche St. Coloman. The Baroque building was designed by Johann Schmutzer and is located in meadows north of the town, and is dedicated to an Irish martyr from the 11th century. Every October a religious festival is held here, known as Colomansfest, which includes 300 horses and carriages in procession. The church was built from 1670-78, and includes a tower. Its setting is superb.
