He says the carnations have come along rapidly in the last few days. Valley, among other things, is enjoying a good demand. A. E. Hunt has had considerable work in the bedding stock line during the last few weeks and says all hands have been busy trying to take care of all the outside work that has been of- fered for execution in Evanston. Peonies have cut a big figure with John Sinner during the last few days and he does not anticipate any shortage on this flower for some time to come. Ernest Farley, formerly connected with the Chicago market, has returned from a trip to the Pacific coast, where he found employment in the retail end of the business. M. C. Gunterberg found an excellent market for peonies last week, and the backwardness of the season in some sections has made it necessary to look for additional shippers. F. C. Hoerber, of Hoerber Bros., made a trip to Des Plaines this week and had a look at the crops and the plant where the storm caused damage the latter part of March. "Could hardly tell we had any trouble, as the three houses hit are now in good shape and the new concrete stack is progressing nicely,'' he reported. A.
