The construction of these fourmiles involved a larger outlay in the roadbed than did the entireij miles from Lockport to Olcott. Three miles of the workw-ould have been considered heavy for steam road construction,and at one point a cut of 80 ft. was made. K considerable portionof this section of the road was in solid rock.
