By a reference to the illustration, it will be seenthat these spokes make the yarn, when on the reel, in the form of a12 sided figure. This is to allow the yarn to come off withouttrouble. And when the reel or swift has been filled, an arrangementis provided to make part of the swift or barrel collapse; and thereeler has then to draw the yarn all to the one end, and by turningthe wheel provided for the purpose, she can lift off the yarn andhang it on the hook at the end of her reel. From thence it is takento the bundling department, when it is made into the size of bundlesrequired.
