It is only necessary here to state that epitheliomais often provoked, in an otherwise apparently healthy system, by long-continued local irritation of any kind; that its progress is usually slow;that for a long time, and probably so long as the neighboring glandsare in no way implicated, it is undoubtedly a local affection ; but that,left to itself, it invariably proceeds, generally after contaminatingthe general system, to a fatal termination.
