Legacy of Lebanese civil war, occupations of Lebanon and 2006 Israeli bombing destroyed much French Colonial and Ottoman Architecture. Political division over rebuilding, the late Rafiq Hariri's vision for complete reconstruction nearly achieved, groups oppose Solidere company, Hariri succeeded in completely rebuilding this destroyed area near the famous clock, Place de l'Etoile.
