Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne, Australia. 28th December 2013. The endangered bird species The Hooded Plover (Thinornis rubricollis) is a species of bird in the family Charadriidae. It is endemic to southern Australia and Tasmania where it inhabits ocean beaches and are classified as endangered. A clutch of 1–3 eggs are laid during the peak of the Austral summer tourist season and it is thereby heavily impacted by human activities.
