Egg Plant seed will not germinate freely without a strong uni- form heat; if they get the least chilled they seldom recover; therefore, repeated sowing is sometimes necessary. C44. Black Beauty. The earliest and the best of all- large-fruited Egg Plants. It is valuable alike to the private planter and the extensive grower for the market. Black Beauty produces fruits fully as large and ready for use ten days to two weeks earlier than the New York Improved Purple. The grand, large fruits are thick, and of attractive form. The skin is a rich lustrous purplish-black—the satin gloss and rich coloring adding greatly to its beauty. Has proved of the greatest value to the Southern truckers and shippers.
