He simply goes for-ward doing his duty, and is too busy with his workto pose for effect or think of fame. Emphaticallywas this true of John Robinson, the Pilgrim Pastorand Leader. But if it was dilhcult tor him to think of himselfas a hero, it is hardly less so for us fully to appre-ciate what it meant for him in his day to take thenoble course his conscience prompted, and face the inner conflictand outward persecutions which he quietly braved in obeyinghis convictions. It requires a careful study of his life and timesfully to understand the faith and courage he exemplified inpursuing the course which he took in Gods name. But amongthe names of the heroes in Gods service in that age, that of JohnRobinson holds honored place. John Robinson was born near Gainsborough, Eng., in theyear 1575.
