Global Medic is part of CSTX 78-21-04 which is a Combat Support Training Exercise that ensures Army Reserve units and Soldiers are trained and ready to deploy and bring capable combat-ready, and ready-now units in support of the Army and our joint partners anywhere in the world. Instructors train students from the Medical Readiness Training Command’s effects and enablers cell how to simulate everything from complex wounds seen in combat, such as open shrapnel wounds and burns to simple illnesses using the same makeup and techniques that Hollywood films use. Throughout the 15-day field exercise, the Soldiers in the effects and enablers cell will apply simulated wounds to live-action role players and mannequins both through hundreds of combat scenarios that play out during the CSTX exercise. Their work ensures realistic casualty simulations that challenge training Soldiers from active, Guard and Reserve forces as well as our joint partners. The Medical Readiness and Training Command executes Global Medic as part of the Army Reserve Medical Command's larger mission to provide trained, equipped, and combat ready units and medical personnel which are ready now to support the total force on the battlefields of today and tomorrow.
