The Hydro Hoist for dr-nping thesebodies is the simplest type hydraulichoist on the market. It is mountedunder the body, thus allowing the bodyto utilize all of the loading space backof the cab. On these War Departmenttrucks this permits the use of a muchlower sided body than could be obtainedwith a hoist mounted back of the cab. The lifting power of the hoist is prac-tically unlimited. Moreover, it can dumpa load with one rear wheel much lowerthan the other. The hoist pistons areattached directly to the body sub-frame so that the body cannot tip over back-ward. A gear pump located in the frontof the hoist forces oil from the upperpart of the cylinder to the lower part ofthe c\4inder and raises the body. Allhigh pressure piping, rollers, cables, sheaves and the like have been elim-inated. The load rests on a cushion ofoil, having an average bearing surface. repair work and to facilitate the applica-tion of small quantities of road materialat points distant from central mixingasphalt plant where it would otherwisebe difficult and expensive to mix, heatand apply a small amount of materialthat in this case can be done by a singleman with convenient portable equipmentthat can be readily delivered at any is sufficient to repair in one operationa place requiring three cubic yards ofmaterial. The machine is similar to an ordinarysteel wheelbarrow except that the bodyis built special and contains a secondarylarge body or tray with a predeterminedspace allowed between the tray and tliespecial body. In this space there is in-stalled a gasoline burner producing ahot flame that spreads over the bottom ofthe tray and provides a imiform heatthroughout its area. The burner is sup-plied with fuel and from a cylindricaltank mounted on the wheelbarrow han-dles adjacent to the end of the body andsupplied with a hand force pump tosec
