Mastocytoma. Light micrograph (LM) of a section of skin showing mastocytosis. Mastocytoma (mast cell tumour) is the name given to a localised form of cutaneous mastocytosis. Mastocytosis, one of the mast cell diseases, is a rare disorder of both children and adults. Cutaneous mastocytosis occurs when there are too many mast cells (purple and pink) in the skin. Mastocytoma usually appears in early childhood at a few months of age and usually has a benign course with a gradually regressive evolution before puberty.
