A narrow-gage track runs formthis jack out to the end of the elevated tracks to thesteel air-hoist cranes. The method of operation is as fol-lows: The small car seen in Fig. 11, having an axle on onlyone end, is pushed along the track until the wheels strikea stop, when the small car is in position over the hydraulicjack; the jack is then raised, carrying the board whichforms the top of the truck on top of the jack head, up underthe motor shell to be removed. The bolts are then slackedofif on the motor and the jack lowered until the motor isloaded on to the truck, the jack dropping low enough toclear the truck. The truck, with motor, is then pushed outbeneath the cranes, where the motors are disassembled,cleaned, repaired, assembled and tested. The motor is thenreplaced beneath the car by the reverse operat
