Engraving depicting the different varieties of Liverworts (1,2,3) and Geranium. The leaves of Hepatica were thought to resemble the liver, and were used to "cool and strengthen" that organ. Geraniums were "a singular remedy against the Stone both in the reines (kidneys) and bladder" - Camerarius. From John Parkinson's "Paradisi in Sole Paradisus Terrestris".
