Hunting gecko (Hemidactylus frenatus) stalking a butterfly. This gecko feeds on insects and other arthropods, sneaking up on its prey before seizing it in its mouth. The victim is then struck against the ground or a wall and swallowed. The gecko is a nocturnal lizard which possesses fleshy toe pads covered with microscopic ridges and hairs. These allow it to cling to smooth surfaces such as walls and ceilings. Photographed in Brunei.
