The specimens previously inthe National Collection (a male and female from the Gambia, collected byWhitfield) were both immature, and consequently of little use for accuratecomparison. Our figure of Buffons Kob (Plate XL.) was lithographed for Sir VictorBrooke by Smit from a coloured drawing by Wolf, but we have not beenable to ascertain from what specimen the drawing was originally taken.
