The mask is made of solid toughened rubber, fitted witha rubber air cushion. In practice it is found advisable to. It can be washed, or placedin hot water, and as it then becomes plastic the shape caneasily be modified, if required, so as better to fit thepatients face. I have had a flanged mask made (fig. 56)which materially facilitates keeping it accur-ately applied to the face and prevents inleakageof air. Certain cases may occur in which a higherpercentage is required than that afforded bythe apparatus as above described. For in-creasing the strength of the vapour inhaleda tube (fig. 58) is provided which fits into theopen neck of the bottle, raising the possiblemaximum dose to 2*5.
