Feeding mosquito. Female Aedes triseriatus mosquito feeding on human blood. The female mosquito feeds by piercing the skin and sucking blood through the proboscis (tube-shaped mouthpiece). She uses the blood meal for the production of eggs. This species of mosquito is found in central and eastern United States and is a vector for the transmission of LaCrosse Encephalitis virus to humans.
