Peter Henry Emerson, photographer (British, born Cuba, 1856 - 1936) 1888 View of a horse and carriage tied to a tree as a man stands at the back of the carriage on the bank of the River Lea. A horse can be seen grazing behind a fence that lines a field on the far side of the river. The name of the photographer, " EMERSON", has been scratched into the lower right corner of the image. (Recto, adjacent interleaving) center, printed in black ink: "PLATE XII. THE LEA, NEAR HODDESDON."
