A sadhu offers a prayer to the Ganges on the way to its source at Gaumukh. Every year several million Hindu pilgrims visit Gangotri, a temple town on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, close to the source of the Ganges at Gaumukh every year to bathe in the holy river, and to receive darshan (prayers and blessings) from the local priests.
