Old box lid for Player's Navy Cut 'Medium' cigarettes, c. 1930. This large sized cardboard box (66 mm long) featured the famous sailor logo in the centre of the design - with the word 'Hero' on his cap. Nottingham based John Player and Sons became part of Imperial Tobacco in 1901 ( there is a small image of Nottingham castle in the design - top left) - vintage twentieth century graphics for editorial use only.
