NW tower & west front of Peterborough Cathedral (St Peter's Church) with Early English Gothic screen wall & flanking turrets. Churchgoers in sunshine.

The NW tower (c 1270) and west front of Peterborough Cathedral, St Peter's Church, in summer evening sunshine. The C12th Romanesque facade is finished off by a C13th screen wall with three Early English Gothic arches and two flanking turrets with C14th spires. The Perpendicular Gothic porch, with Trinity Chapel (now the Cathedral Treasury) above was inserted c 1380 to check the forward lean of the central arch. A party of churchgoers is slowly assembling in the sunshine as the lengthening shadows in Minster Yard edge towards the sunlit facade.
