A Marine assigned to the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band plays his instrument before the Marine Air Control Squadron 1 Relief and Appointment Ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., March. 13, Relief and Appointment ceremony is an honored product of the rich heritage of Naval tradition. The heart of the ceremony is the passing of the organizational NCO Sword by the Activity Commander from the outgoing Sergeant Major to the new Sergeant Major, which signifies the transfer of responsibility, accountability and authority, from one individual to another.
